Hello,

it depends on the kind of fish you are eating. Certain kinds, like shark, mackerel, swordfish, tile fish. Also, albacore tuna contains more mercury than canned light tuna.
Generally, fish and shellfish are healthy foods, and they all contain traces of mercury, but some contain high levels and you should best avoid eating them if you are a woman who may become pregnant, are already pregnant or are nursing. This due to the fact that mercury is harmful for the nervous system of the fetus.
To avoid getting high levels of mercury, try to avoid the kinds of fish I mentioned above and limit the amount to 12 oz (340 gr) a week, i.e. two average meals.

All the best
