Hello
Metformin is generally well tolerated and don't develop any untoward effect over new born or mother in pregnancy .
But your blood sugar level is within control not only empty stomach but also post prandial ( after meal ).
If your gynaecologist recommend that ,continue it .
In my opinion you should also consult diabetologist beside your gynaecologist .
So consult both specialist and deal according to situation.
Good luck.
At present ,since your blood sugar level is within normal limit , so don't think about INSULIN ,but regular monitoring of blood sugar till delivery and after delivery ( for 15 days ) is important.
