Can Mirena IUD Cause Light Bleeding After Inserting It?

Hello, my name is Avery. I have had the mirena iud since October and ive been experiencing some light bleeding everyday since the insertion. I'll go through about 3 to four panty liners in a day; and just recently ive started experiencing flutters in my lower abdomen area. Is any of this normal?

Hello. After the insertion of the IUD, more than 20% of women have prolonged bleeding that can last up to a year, that's normal. However lower abdominal pain in patients using IUD is necessary to rule out Pelvic Inflammatory disease because IUD is a risk factor for this pathology. You must go to your gynecologist as soon as possible.
I wish you good health.
