Can My Periods Be Regular After Hysteroscopic Procedure?
I have a small submucous fibroid. I had no menstrual cycle for 7 months with hot flashes and then a very heavy one. I have not had a period now for about 45 days and my hot flashes are back. I am 51 yrs old and I am obese. My Doctor wants to do a hysteroscopic procedure with a wand to shave the fibroid. I m hesitant because I m not sure if the benefits, if any, outweigh the possible risks.

Hi,
Your symptoms of hot flashes with irregular bleeding suggests hormonal imbalance (premenopausal)... though the symptoms simulate to fibroid symptoms, the menopausal symptoms may continue till menopause is attained. Moreover, small sized fibroids can disappear over the time (faster after menopause).
So I would suggest observing the size of fibroid & be under Gynecologist care for profuse bleeding. Reduction of weight & exclusion/treatment of thyroid problem or diabetes... plays a major role in your health concern.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
