Can Necon Cause Breast Tenderness And Mood Swings?
Hello, I m a 22 year old female. I m 5 7, 130 lbs. Two weeks ago I started taking Necon 1/35 birth control. I ve experienced some breast tenderness and mood swings. Recently, I noticed back and neck soreness, as well as pain in my left shoulder down to my left elbow. Could this be a side effect of the medication? It s not a sharp pain, just a general soreness like I slept funny, but it persists. Thanks.

Necon contains both ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone that is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses. It is also used to treat various types of menstrual problems like irregular periods, painful or heavy bleeding during periods, endometriosis, ovarian cyst, pre menstrual symptoms or PMS etc. Like other medications, this medication has side effects too. Side effects of Necon are muscle pain, joint pain, back pain, neck pain, mood swings, depression, breast tenderness and enlargement, changes in sleep pattern, fatigue, unusual tiredness and weakness, exhaustion, headache, sweating, dryness of mouth, changes in appetite, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, abdominal pain etc. These side effects are mild and go away over time as your body adjusts to this medication. But, if these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should consult your doctor first for medical help.
