Can Nutrition Through IV Given After Hip Surgery?

my father has Alzheimers and recently fell and broke his hip and had to have surgery. He has been very confused and has not eaten very much, just a few bites of applesauce. Can any nutrition be added to his iv? I do not want a feeding tube or any extreme measures just something for a few days until the anesthia is out of his system thank you

definitely a parenterral nutrition can be given.
a balanced intravenous supplements are available that delivers calculated and requires calories and vitamins doses. Esp indicated in people who can't tolerate oral intake. However, oral route should be resumed as soon as possible to allow speedy recovery and restoration of the intestinal malieu. It call has to be in the advice of the treating consultant.
