Can Omega 3 Cause Vaginal Bleeding?

Hello. I have been taking omega 3 for several months, and this week noticed vaginal bleeding. It was light, lasted for just one day, and appeared "thin." I am 70 years old, 5'6", 215 lbs. with treated high blood pressure and high cholesterol. No other medical problems. Could omega 3 cause this?

Hi,
Omega 3 is essential fatty acid and lowers the risk of heart disease, dementia, depression and arthritis. It is not known to cause vaginal bleeding. You need to continue omega 3.
Vaginal bleeding in the elderly needs to be viewed seriously as it could be secondary to cervical cancer. You need to get a colposcopy done along with a pap smear. If the bleeding is present since a long period, anemia can also be seen.
Meet your gynecologist and do get tested to rule of cervical cancer.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
