Can Only 6 Oz Of Formula Milk At Night Cause Dehydration In 6 Weeks Old?

hi my grandson is 6weeks old eat every 3-4 hrs (breast milk) everyday and takes a nap, he now goes to bed with a bottle of formula 6oz and he sleeps till 5 my son is worried he s not getting enough liquid afraid of dehydration , my grandson is in the 80% is there anything to worry about

Hello. Thank you for your question. A 6 week old who feeds every 3-4 hours and is in the 80th percentile is a healthy baby. Your grandson is thriving. In general, putting a baby to sleep in bed with a bottle is not recommended. As a point of reassurance, if he is producing 1-2 wet diapers per day, he is not dehydrated. If we are concerned that he is dehydrated, putting him in bed with a bottle is not the answer. In this case, I recommend consulting with your doctor. Again, however, nothing you describe is consistent with dehydration.
