Can Painful Limbs And Joints Be Indicative Of Arthritis?

I have sore legs and knees. The pain seems to be worse with poor rainy weather. Is it an old wives-tale that this symptom is an indicator of arthirtis? I am also having sore knuckle, finger and ankle joints. I am nly 36 and have been very active in my life. I am not overweight but I AM a smoker.

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
After going through your description, my advice would to find out the cause of multiple joint arthritis (poly arthritis) you may get following blood test for better control of pain- serum RA factor, ANA test,Anti CCP antibody test and serum uric acid.
The common polyarthritis(Rheumatoid arthritis) is a disease that is autoimmune in nature. It affects mainly synovial joints like the joints of hands, feet, although any joint can be affected by it.
With proper medication you can lead an absolutely normal life without any pain or disability. The drugs usually given are methotrexate ,HCQS,Sulfsalazine along with folic acid and pain killer.
It is not advisable to stop medication on your own as it only leads to accrual of joint damage and leads to joint deformities. So keep a positive attitude and take regular medication; also exercise regularly.
Please feel free to ask me if you have any other query. Do you have a family history of multiple joint pains?
My advice would be visit a rheumatologist/physician for evaluation and treatment.
Hope this information suffices.
Take care
