Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 72 and have been taking the lowest dose of premarin for at least 10 years. Can taking this medication for so long cause a stroke? I recently suffered an incident (TIA) and want to know if taking the medicine caused the stroke. Judy YYYY@YYYY
Hello, Premarin is an estrogen and estrogens do increase the risk of blood clots and stroke. If you have had a TIA then you need to talk to your doctor about tapering you off the premarin. Regards
