Can Protected Sex During Periods Transmit Any Infection?

hello,if I had protected oral and vaginal sex where the condom remained in tact, but the woman I was with ended up being on her period, what are the chances I contracted something? It's been maybe 12 hours, and right after sex my penis felt a bit sore and irritated. However, I have felt this kind of slight irritation before after sex...and this is the first time I've had sex in maybe a month.Note- when i pulled out I also noticed a little bit of blood on the condom.

Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

I understand that you are worried about the possibility of having contracted a sexually transmitted infection. Generally, the risk of transmission of STIs are more if the contact / exchange of body fluids is more. So, technically, the risk would have been relatively higher if the woman was menstruating.

However, if you are sure that you had only protected sex and that your condom was intact, then you don't have to worry much. If you continue to experience any burning / genital discomfort / discharge from your urethra, then it is better to get yourself checked by a doctor.

Wish you all the best.
