Can Salmon Omega 3 And Green Tea Extract Be Continued For Lowering Cholesterol Levels?

Hi, I am 39 male height 184 cms, weight 93 kegs, BMI abt 25, Indian, have been suffering from borderline high cholesterol levels of 215 and elevated triglyceride levels of 235 for the last 3-4 years. I am a regular with both cardio and weight training for abt 1.5 hours daily. Otherwise healthy with normal blood pressure, normal Hba1c, normal thyroid levels and normal kidney and liver function. My doctor prescribed Crestor to lower my cholesterol and it caused severe muscle pain and lowered my running stamina from abt 6 Kms to abt 1 km. I stopped taking the medicine and have since, on advise of a friend, consumed Amway's Salmon Omega 3 and green tea extract called CH Balance for the last 6 months. A recent blood test revealed my cholesterol was down to 190 and my triglyceride level had dropped to 180.should I continue taking these supplements since they seem to have benefitted me. are there any side effects of consuming them for a long time ?

Thanx for approaching hcm, your problem is dyslipidemia (altered lipid levels).
1. Main causes can be excess fat cosumption like oil, ghee, butter, cream. cheese, mayonnaise, egg yolks, fried foods, beef etc .
2. Excess carbohydrate consumption like simple sugars juices, sweetened drinks, fructose corn syrups or more consumption of cereal like rice, chapathis.
3. lack of exercise or impaired metabolism of fats which can be heredatory.
with diet and exercise you can control your lipid levels. consume more of monounsaturated fats like olive oil, almonds, walnuts, canola oil, ground nut oil.Reduce intake of saturated fats like full fat dairy products, egg yolks, skin of chicken, organ meats, butter ghee cream cheese, fried foods.decrease your intake of juices and main cereal as excess is stored as triglycerides in the body.go for regular exercise daily at least 45minutes 5 times a week.Fish is good source of omegas which help in reducing cholesterol include fish atleast 3 times a week .you cannot take supplements life long but you can modify your diet.Think for a change for healthy life.
