Can Severe Knee Pain Be A Symptom Of Auto Immune Hyperthyroidism?
Hi. My Six year old daughter has been diagnosed with an auto immune disease causing her to be hyperthyroid, she has been taken off meds to trial and has regular blood test s to monitor her thyroxine levels, she began becoming thyrotoxic but on last test showed very hypothyroid. Tonight she has woken from her sleep screaming with pains in her knee joints...this has never happened before. Could this be related to her condition?
Hi,Thanks for posting in HCM. I undetstand your concern rightly. Over long term autoimmune thyroid disease is not well linked with joint disease involving the knee joints. This sudden joint pain may be due to viral thyroiditis affecting knee joints.but you need to consult a good rheumatologist as well.Hope you are satisfied.Good Luck.
