Can Sinusitis Cause Fatigue And Low Grade Fever?

My son of 13 got high fever about 20 days ago. Doctor saw him on the third day and asked to bring him back if fever did not go away in another 48 hours. So after couple days, he prescribed antibiotics , suspecting sinusitis. X-ray showed he had sinusitis on the left side. But the 10 day course did not clear it his fever completely. So he got another course for 15 days. But still he is having around 37 to 37.5 all the time, And complains from fatigue and a cough despite his chest is clear. Can sinusitis produce these conditions despite antibiotics ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Maybe he needs to use also antihistamines like Desloratadine and Pseudoephedrine to help with nose secretions. Also can clear his nose often with saline water to keep it clean from bacteria and allergens. Also corticosteroids nasal spray can be used for congestion.

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
