Can Splenomegaly Cause Itching On The Body And Blood In Stools?

My husband was diagnosed with minimal change disease this year after having blood clots in his lungs. He is responding very well to treatmeant but is now having other issues like itchy, blood in the stool and he has been told he has an enlarged spleen so I think they are missing something. Possibly Lymphoma???

Hello,

There are many differential diagnoses regarding this.
• Anal fissure/hemorrhoid giving rise to itchy, blood in stools
Corticosteroids (given for minimal change disease ) induced bleeding
• Enlarged spleen secondary to anemia (low hemoglobin) from blood loss
• Other autoimmune parameters

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
