hi my cousin is admitted to hospital he had fever few weeks back the doctor did some tests & now they have put him on steroids.he has no strength below his knees,cant stand alone,cant walk alone somebody needs to hold him....they r giving him the following : wysolone 50mg, folvite,pregaba,shelcal,pantocid,cetapin xr let me know. wt can be the issue?
Steroids are not likely to cause such severe weakness in the legs. Its possible that he has developed a syndrome known as Guillaine Barre Syndrome where post viral infection, weakness develops in the legs. This is treated with steroids. The condition generally resolves completely and your causing should be back to normal. This is based on the information that you have given me.
