Can Suddenly Stopping Thorizene Affect The Patient?

My son has been on thorizene(SP?) since August. He is unfortunately in jail, where it was started. He has trust issues and hasn't opened up to the therapist like she wants him to. She told him today that because he isn't talking to her then she is stopping his med. It has helped him immensely though. Is this right?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Thorazine is an antipsychotic medication. Most antipsychotics, unless on low dose are not stopped abruptly.

His doctor may not actually discontinue the medication , it is possible that she mentioned this to see if it stimulates him to talk.

You and your son, can consider speaking to the doctor regarding your concerns.

I hope this helps
