Hi,
From what you have described, your skin has gone through a few different phases: first, a sun-allergy–type reaction with dryness and peeling; now,
acne with dark marks. This kind of swing can happen when the skin barrier gets irritated and then strong creams are added. A few points that make sense here:
1.
Topical steroid use-the glucocorticoid your doctor prescribed earlier. These creams help to soothe allergy and inflammation quickly, but when used on the face even for short lengths of time, they can sometimes cause acne afterwards. So your recent “burst of pimples”
fits that pattern. It does not mean the treatment was wrong — just that the skin reacts this way in some people.
2. Deacne and Adaferin (
adapalene) plus Geldox-X. These are standard acne medicines. In particular, adapalene is very common for acne and dark marks. The Geldox-X(clindamycin–
nicotinamide type combinations) helps to calm the active outbreaks. So, yes, these medicines are in line with normal dermatology treatment.
3. Suncros Aquagel. It is a non-comedogenic sunscreen. Heavier sunscreens can aggravate the pimples in acne-prone skin. Therefore, shifting you to Suncros makes sense.
4.”Too many chemicals” concern. The fear is understandable, however, dermatology medicines are meant to be used in combinations. The treatment seems to have been adjusted based on how your skin is reacting. When used as directed by your physician, nothing you have mentioned here is unsafe.
Yes, the treatment you are on is appropriate for your condition. The flare of acne is most likely steroid-induced and is treatable. The creams you were given currently are standard and safe for acne and pigmentation. Just one thing-adapalene and similar gels can cause dryness and mild irritation for the first few weeks. That is normal, but if the burning or peeling gets too much, you need to go back with the doctor for adjustment.
Also, apply sunscreen daily, even on the inside of your house. This will help prevent further dark spots. Continuing to aggravate the pimples or feeling too much irritability from these gels; it is better to seek direct physical review so the doctor can evaluate your skin texture and adjust the routine.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further query I will be happy to help. Wish you good health.
