Can Swallowing A Long Piece Of Food Obstruct Esophagus?
This is a general question as to if in a healthy adult there is any known risk with inadvertently swallowing one or more strands of cooked spaghetti whole, e.g. should it be sufficiently fragmented so as to not obstruct full closure of the pyloric valve? Probably the answer is answer. I promise this is a sincere question, sometimes I am possessed of this type of concern. A very brief response is okay.
Hello. Thanks for putting your query in hcm. Yes it should be fragmanted to small pieces before swalloing. However I dont think it can cause pyloric obstruction even if swalloed as whole. Because it will be digested and broken to fragments in stomach itself before going across the pylorus. I hope I have answered your query. Wish you a good health
