Can Switching To Diotroxin Be A Cure For Hashimoto Thyroiditis?

I have Hashimoto Thyroiditis and am really struggling with symptoms. Have been using Eltroxin 0.1mg for years. My TSH levels are close to the upper end, T3 also barely in range. Suffered from acute thyroiditis recently. Struggling with symptoms - can t sleep at night, can t stay awake during the day, weight gain, restless legs, almost chronic respiratory infections, headaches (which I never have), eyes very sensitive to light. Could switching to to Diotroxin help? If so, what dosage? Any other advice, please? Thank you.

Hi,
Before trying another drug, i would recommend you to check if any factors are precipitating your illness, a common cause of persisting symptoms, even with euthyroid state. They include stress, infection and steroid hormonal usage.
If no such thing is found, i would recommend you to slightly increase the dose of eltroxin to bring the TSH to the lower half of normal, which can help in some patients.
Finally, if there is no improvement with in 4 weeks, you may consider Diotroxin. Most of the studies done on combination of T3 and T4 (like your diotroxin)failed to show any benifit, but it is subjected to variations, hence you may try as an option. Hope this helps.
Hope this helps.
