Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How much edema can one expect from 10mg. of Norvasc daily? I am currently taking 200mg of Lasix and a restricted fluid intake of 64 oz. also on a low sodium diet of 2000mg. or less /day. I still am having problems reducing my ankle and lower extremity edema.Thank You
Hello, Norvasc is a calcium channel blocker and produces ankle edema by dilatation of the capillaries and seepage from them. The management you have described is for fluid overload and is not very effective for capillary dilatation. I would be interested in knowing why you are particular about taking Norvasc and take a high dose of lasix and apply other restrictions in an unsuccessful attempt to control its side effects. If it is only for high blood pressure, I shall be happy to let you know other medicines which will control your blood pressure without the problem of ankle edema. Dr. Noble Zachariah, Kuwait
