Can Taking Budesonide Affect Recovery After Hip Replacement Surgery?

I have diabetes and had Lymphocytic Colitis. I was prescribed Budesonide EC 3mg 3 times per day to start and in 30 days went down to 2 and then down to 1 and finally off. I am having problems with very loose stools again. It has made my blood sugars go up some. I am having hip replacement surgery next week. If I start back on the Budesonide will it affect my after surgery recovery.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Budesonide is a steroid and it delays the healing after surgery. So it would be better if you can manage without budesonide. Do get back to me if you have further queries.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Noble Zachariah, Internal Medicine Specialist
