I have a history of hyperthyroidism. But recently my TSH has gone up and am now hypo with TSH at 19. Have gained weight, and there is fatigue, muscle pains & lot of hair loss. The doctor has put me on Thyronorm 25 mg. Can I expect to lose weight with the medication? What are the side effects of the medicine?

Hello,
On taking thyronom 25 which is minimal dosing doesn't generally cause major side effects. General weakness, nervousness, weight loss , diarrhoea, vomiting, menstrual irregularities, sometimes cramping of muscles. But weight loss is not achieved with medication alone, try some mild excercise like walking for 30minutes everyday.
