Can The White And Tender Spot On Cheek After An Injury Be Worth Worrying?

6 yo son fell from his bike, hurt is cheek pretty bad in September. X ray did not show any broken bones. His facial look is a bit change and it feel like a sponge when we touch it. It does not hurt but today after playing in the snow and cold for 5 mins there was a white spot exactly where his cheek it the road. Put on a scarf to avoid frost bit and was fine. I still think something is not right. thanks Shirley

General & Family Physician 's  Response

Hi Shirley and thank you so much for trusting us with your health query.

I am so sorry to hear about the accident your son had and this white spot. I will not be particularly worried at this time. Happy that you thought of covering hi up to get him warm after playing in snow. Please, always advice hi to stay away from snow.
If any other symptoms like pain, fever, etc should set in,, I will suggest that you get hi examined but for now there are no red flags that suggest an immediate medical consultation.

I hope you find this helpful. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and please do feel free to ask for clarifications or more information if need be.
