Can Thigh And Leg Soreness, Stiffness, Pain With Weight-bearing Difficulties Be Treated?

AFTER INJECTING AVONEX INTO MY RIGHT THIGH (I have been doing this for 12 years with no problem) DAY BY DAY MY UPPER THIGH AND LEG HAS BECOME VERY STIFF AND SORE. HARD TO BEAR WEIGHT ON IT AND IS EXTREMELY PAINFUL TO MOVE OR BEND. Very tender and sore at the injection site. P.S. DID HAVE MORE BLOOD THAN NORMAL AFTER THE NEEDLE CAME OUT. Any advice?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
Repeated injection at the same site into your thigh leads to muscle fibrosis which makes muscle stiff and leads to joint stiffness and decreased movements of hip and knee. This might be the reason. If injection are required to be given for long period it should be given at different sites. I would advise mri of involved thigh to confirm diagnosis. Visit expert orthopaedic surgeon with report. Physiotherapy is good for relief of stiffness and pain.
