Can Topical Tretinoin Be Taken For A Long Time?

hi doctor,i am 25years female,though i have got dry skin in the limbs and posterior aspect of trunk, my face is wit many comedones and pimples.i took a course of antibiotics wit topical tretin under dermatologist s opinion and got a gud result,but after discontinuing the tretin again many black heads have arised.. Can i continue the topical tretin for a long duration? And does topical application cause any teratogenicity?kindly help me to get rid of dis problem..
