Can Vaginal Pain Cause Dilation?

I am 32 weeks and have been 1 cm dilated since 28 weeks. The past week I have been having runny bowels everyday a couple times a day. Also my vagina has been hurting almost like someone kicked me in it but just really sore. Could this mean im dilating from the vagina pain.? Could labor be near? Worried!

Hi,
Your symptoms could mean a threatened preterm labor and I would ask you to contact your consultant immediately for further management. The pain in the vagina could be due to the dilating cervix and the descent of the presenting part, which at this stage, could be any part of the body of the fetus. The fact that you have loose stools suggests either increased prostaglandin effect that is seen prior to onset of labor or some bowel infection, which can also predispose to preterm labor. Please do not exert, take rest and hospitalization if necessary. Wish you safe motherhood.
