Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...A month ago I contracted a virus. It took a couple of weeks for the symptoms to leave, but since then under my ribs and across my chest it feels inflamed and is painful when I cough or move around. I had a chest x-ray, ruling out pneumonia in the lungs. My concern is that it might be the heart. I have read that virus s can damage the heart. I have no insurance but go to VA clinics as I am a veteran. Problem is, they stopped with the x-ray and are not pursuing other possible problems. I am 58 and female.
After going through your query I understand your concern.
I would like to tell you that cause of your chest pain is Pneumonia. symptoms for Pneumonia is coughing, fever, breathlessness, fatigue or malaise etc. Frequent coughing also cause pain in chest muscles.
Its advisable to get a treatment done for pneumonia under obseravtion of a pulmonologist.
Hope this will help.
Kind Regards
