Can Vitamin Supplements Be Taken Along With Amlodipine?

I have been prescribed Amlodipine to decrease blood pressure along with diet and exercise. I have never taken prescribed medicine outside of contraceptives and would like to continue taking 1-day vitamins and herbal remedies for some of the side effects that Amlodipine may cause (i.e. tiredness and swelling) are there any herbal supplements I should stay clear from using.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for your question. I'm glad to help.

Amlodipine is safe to use with vitamin supplements. However, there are some herbal supplements which cause serious interactions when used with amlodipine and these should be avoided. These include St John's wort, maitake, reishi, cornsilk, DHEA, fo=ti, and marijuana.

I hope i have answered your question.

Please feel free to feed me back if you have got any more questions

Best wishes.
