Can We Increase The Dosage Of Protonix While On Doxycycline?

I have been taking Protonix for 1 month since diagnosed with GERD. I saw my doctor and hep rescribed Doxycycline 100mg twice a day for a double ear infection and sinusitis ( head pressure for a week ) my doctor also told me to take Ibuprofen for the pain. Should I not use the ibuprofen and use Tylenol instead. He said ibuprofen would help the swelling but I am worried about the reflux symptoms. I have a sour taste in my mouth still and feel like I have phlegm with post nasal drip. I have an ENT appointment in 4 days but am so tired of being sick. I am 26 and weigh 260lbs. Would you suggest doubling the Protonix to decrease the GERD symptoms while on the Doxycycline ? He also called in Levaquin just in case I want to stop the doxycycline. ( FYI. I am very anxious about drugs and their side effects. I usually don t take anything more than Tylenol ).

Ibuprofen will help inflammation more than will tylenol. Ibuprofen often affects the stomach. Doxycycline has more irritation and more real toxicity than levaquin as a general rule, but less stomach irritation in general than aspirin like drugs such as ibuprofen. Protonix is not guaranteed to work on stomach irritation from NSAIDS; it can work, but it is far from 100% effective.
On the other hand , there are a lot of ear drops that can help symptoms and unless you take them orrally against medical advise they cannot have effect s on the stomach.
So, avoiding aspirin like drugs in stomach irriation context.
can take ear drops.
Not sure if there is an issue on antibiotics if the other issues are addressed.
