Can Wearing Night Guard And Clenching Teeth Lead To Pain In Mouth In W/TMJ Person?

I have been diagnosed w/TMJ and I wear a night guard...I clinch my teeth severely. Could that cause your mouth to feel like needles are shooting up (underneath your teeth)? Could it also cause your tongue to be affected on one side of your mouth (same side of mouth all of the issues are coming from)?

thanks for your query, i have gone through your question, the pain in the TMJ could be due to disc displacement that is present between two jaw bones...the night guard will disengage the two jaw bones and reduces the pain... if the splint is more than 2-3mm thickness it might worsen the condition...grinding your teeth increases the pain.. take tablet piroxicam 20mg once daily for first day and twice daily for next 6 days...take soft diet, dnt open your jaw too wide, give hot fomentation over the affected jaw...tongue might get affected when your teeth become sharp secondary to attrition because of grinding your teeth..the tongue might get traumatised....i hope my answer will help you...take care..
