Cancer Patient Diagnosed With Acute Gastric Problem. On Medication For Both. History Of Taking Protonix Stopped After Severe Diarrhea. Thoughts?

I am a cancer patient recently diagnosed with accute.gastric problems. Now they are trying to help with both problems. I am streated with Gelcave for the MM and many different meds for the gastric problems. now suffering with severe diareah, One Dr. claims it is from the chemo the other say is from the gastric problem,. So how should this be treated in YOUR opinion. Toough call I know. I was taking Protonix for about 8 weeks and the diarreah got os bad that AI stopped taking. Dr. agreed that this could be the problem. Sorry this is so involved but I hope you may have an answer for me.

Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
As you are taking chemotherapy of cancer , these drugs develops gastritis and hence acute pain in the stomach reason.
So in that sense ,your both treating doctor are right because chemotherapy produces gastritis and gastritis develops acute pain in stomach.
As proton pump inhibitor develops diarrhea in your case so you will have to change the antacid drugs.
In my opinion I would like to prescribe rebamipide in my such type of cases so consult your both treating and take their opinion.
Try raising the head of your bed about 4 inches with blocks.
It also might help to avoid eating & drinking for two hours before lie down.
Avoid spicy & greasy food, chocolate, alcohol junk food .
