Child. Bloating After Eating, Pain In Abdomen, Soft Stool With Undigested Food. X-ray Done Followed By Enema Given. Any Ideas?
My 3 year old daughter bloats immediately after eating, and complains of pain in her lower left side and upper right abdomen. A few minutes later she has a soft stool full of undigested food, mainly fruits and vegetables. This has been going on for 3 weeks, I have taken her to the doctor twice, and the er because the pain was so bad. They did an X-ray and an enema 3 weeks ago, which flushed out a stool that was pure mucus with 3 full cherries in it. I make sure she chews well after that but she continues to have pain, bloating and undisgested food in her stool. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
Welcome to HCM Greetings of the day Namasthe She could be having giardiasis infection, get stool for microscopic examination for ova and cyst to confirm the diagnosis. Seven to ten day course of Metronidazole will definitely cure the infection. Regards
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. It seems she looks like having gut infection. I suggest you to test her stool for routine, microscopic examination, ova and cysts, and for culture and sensitivity. If infection is found on investigations, it can be treated with specific medication. Give oral probiotic and zinc in prescribed dose with the advise of pediatrician. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
