Child. Deep Graze Into Leg Due To Fall, Followed By Red Inflammation, Soreness And White Spots In The Middle, Painful To Touch. Suggest

Hi. My son is 12 years old and recently had a fall. Causing a deep graze to his leg, not very deep. It happened about 10 days ago. A few days ago he developed inflammation close to the sore in two areas with a white spot in the middle of the inflammation and it is painful to touch. Can you recommend how we should treat this, we think it may be an infection as the inflammation is red. Thanks. Steve.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The symptoms that you have suggested are likely to be due to a soft tissue injury with a hematoma or bruise formation. This is likely to subside on its own if there is not much swelling.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
