Child. Frequent Spiking And Popping Stomach Pain, Dizziness. Little Help From Gluten Free Diet. Any Ideas?

I have a seven year old healthy son. For the last few months he has complained of stomach pain describing it as spiking and popping and building up until it pops and goes away. In the last month he has also had dizziness. Our GP suggested trying a gluten free diet which we have done and it seems to help a little but he still has the symptoms sometimes so I'm not convinced its all about gluten. He is fit and healthy apart from this. His father is gluten intolerant and also has the genetic market for coeliac disease although does to actually have it at this point. Any ideas?

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

I can understand your concern seeing that there is a family history of gluten intolerance in the father and also a genetic marker. Though you have given a description of the pain, you have not provided the following details:
1. Where exactly does your son have pain in the abdomen?
2. What time of the day the pain occurs?
3. Any relationship with meals?
4. How long (duration) does the pain last?
5. What investigations have been done and what are the reports?
You shall appreciate that these are some of the questions that shall help me in guiding you further.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son an early recovery.

Regards,
