Child. Vomiting With Severe Stomach Pain. Water Sample Showed Small Amount Of Ketone. Advice

my four year old has been vomiting and having severe stomach pain we took him to a&e and they took a urine sample checked him over and said everything was fine but the water sample showed up a small amount ketone which could be the cause, hes had no pain today but has still been vomating this evening he woke screaming hysterical in pain and its is very agonising to watch! can ketone in urine cause this? he is a very healthy eater and does lots of physical activity.

The ketones in the urine indicated that he was dehydrated. This is likely as a result of the vomiting.

If he is continuing to vomit and it is difficult to replace the fluid that he is losing, he may become more dehydrated.

The abdominal pain due to gastroenteritis is cramping in nature and should not be as severe as you are describing.

It would be best to take him back either to the ER or his doctor as soon as possible.
This would be for assessment of the pain and rehydration if necessary.
