Nebulisation is a safe, quick and effective way to provide relief from symptoms of bronchoconstriction.
By nebulisation, there are minimal side effects as the medicine is not absorbed in the blood and as it directly relieves the air passage from the constriction.
Your doctor must have prescribed the nebulisation after auscultating/examining the chest of the child.
So you can continue with the treatment adviced by your Paeditrician.

Cold and cough in this age group is usually associated with some narrowing of airways. This narrowing causes respiratory difficulty leading to irritability and disturbed sleep.
As your doctor has prescribed nebulisation, he must have noticed the signs of narrowing of airways on clinical examination.
If there is any respiratory difficulty and noisy breathing, try nebulisation and see the response. In case you find that symptoms are less after nebulisation then it suggests that there is requirement of nebulisation.
Also give Zinc syrup and antiallergic (like Allegra) syrup.
Consult your physician if there is no improvement or worsening of symptoms.
