Child Diagnosed With MRSA. How To Prevent It From Happening Again?
Our seven year old son was recently diagnosed with MRSA, after reading some articles about this I am wondering how on earth he could have contracted it ? He is in extremely good health and always has been. He plays alot of sport and I am very particular about hid dietary and sanitary habits ! He had one boil on the inside of his knee which after treatment with antibiotics has disapeared.... How can I prevent this happening again or what can I do to get rid of it and how can I tell its gone ? Worried Mum
I appreciate your concern about your son. Most commonly MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) infections are skin infections. MRSA is a kind of bacteria which resistant to certain antibiotics like Methicillin, Amoxicillin, Oxacillin etc. You can prevent this from happening again by some simple measures like avoiding the sharing of personal fomites (like comforters, towels, blades etc), making him wash his hands frequently with an antibacterial hand sanitizer and particularly take care of any minor injuries like cuts or other small wounds by keeping them sterile and covered, last but not the least maintaining a proper personal hygiene as you are already doing.
