Child Diagnosed With Sinus Infection. Should I Give Her Antibiotics?

child, 3 years of old, recently diagnosed with sinus infection. Temperature is under 100 and she's acting relatively fine. Trying to sleep, however, is miserable tonight due to the mucus drainage. She just vomited after a coughing fit and mucus was present in vomit. Once she sits up, she has little to no coughing fits but with lying (despite us propping her us) ,she almost chokes due to the drainage. She has no other complicating health issues and the pediatrician just prescribed an antibiotic which we wanted to start but afraid now she will vomit it up if we do it before morning. Thanks for your time.

Hi,

If sinusitis is diagnosed by the doctor, than you should give her antibiotics.

Even if the temperature is low and the child is fine the infection may exist in the child's sinuses.

So don't hesitate to begin the antibiotics.
