Child Getting High Temperature, Lips Turning Black And Pale Face. Is It A Sign Of Seizure Or Convulsions?
Hi Doctor, We are having a baby boy 20 months old.Last couple of days he has been getting a temperatur of 103-104. Last night suddenly his lips turned black and he started to act very differntly. he was concious, but his lips were very black and face became pale. Please advise on what could have caused this and how to adress this type of situations in future. Is this an indication of any silent convulsions, siezures etc.. Really appreciate your help and guidence in this.
very likely to be febrile convulsions. if child had this episode just after or within 2-3 hours of fever then its certain s diagnosis. well controlling fever is very important. kindly start paracetamol round the clock whenever child gets fever spike but atleast with interval of 4 hours. you can try tepid sponging along with it whdn temperature is 100 or 101 f. if fever doesnot come down withjn 2-3 hours of paracetamol then give ibugesic. nasal midazolam spray is good option when child gets actual seizures at home. give 1 puff each nostril to abort seizure and take child to pedistric emergency. this condition goes away by age of 6 years by and large.
