Child Given Genemycin After Sinus Surgery. History Of Klebsiella And MRSA. Can Tests Be Done In ER?
My daughter was given genemycin (shot in arm) one week after sinus surgery because she was crying all night and not sleeping for 3 nights. It seemed to be pain in her ears. The doctor then put her on Doxycycline. She is really bad today. Giving Tylenol and bioallers sinus relief. Then two hours later 3 ibuprofin and 2 sudafed. she is still not getting relief. I wondering is she has a gram negative infection and that is why the genemycin worked for a few days and now she is bad again. She has had klebsiella and MRSA in the past in her sinus. Help. Do we go to an ER or wait till her appointment on Tuesday with the ENT? We have had blood drawn for immune system testing and the stuff he got out of her ears is being tested for yeast and fungus. SHe has cronic yeast. She has been off all sugar and gluten-free for 2 months now, but she is not any better. Can a test be done in an ER to determine MRSA or Klebsiella quickly or does it take a week or two to get results?
Pain in the ear which is not getting relieved by pain killers needs to be examined by a doctor to rule out middle ear infection. Whichever infection, MRSA or Klebsiella, an appropriate antibiotic will be required to control the infection along with decongestant.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
