Child Got Head Injury. Large Bump Appeared And Behaving Normally. Should I Consult A Doctor?

Hello my son fell off the stroller and hit the front of his head!. He hit the floor very hard.This happened about 4 hours ago. He has a large bump on his head. After the fall he cried for about 10 minutes & was fine he was talking fine and acting fine, he even had a bedtime snack. He fell asleep at about 8:30 for bed. I am concerned about him sleeping. Shall I wake him and take him to the emergency?

Hello dear...
The bump over the head after a fall is due to accumulation of fluid or blood (hematoma).
The blood cells accumulated are eventually broken down and absorbed in the body.
But this is a slow process & takes times to disappear completely.
Till that time, symptomatic relief is obtained by giving analgesics, ice compression & adequate rest.
If it still persists or if he shows any other associated symptoms like vomiting, loss of consciousness, convulsions, etc...then it will be better to consult the Pediatrician.
