Child Had A Pale Yellow Stool And Back Was Hurt. Should I Be Worried?

My son is 4 and had a pale yellow stool three days ago and yesterday it was white. Tonight while my husband and I were out he screamed and cried for half an hour and then said the side of his back hurt. My son in la asked if it was on both sides and he said no, only on one side. He has had a cough for a couple of weeks now and it seems more productive with a loosening of the mucus.
