Child Had Abnormal EKG. Fluctuating Heart Beat. Should I Be Concerned?

hello, My fourteen year old had an abnormal ekg with a school physical and was referred for an echo which was normal. But the tech doing the echo stated she was concerned about the fluctuation in his heart beat during the exam. She stated the beat went to from fast to slow several times and that my son s PCP may order a holter monitor . His PCP reported he wasn t concerned and that a teen s heart beat can fluctuate quite a bit. Should I be concerned?

Hello and thanks for writing in at HCM
Our heart beats about one lac times in a day and about 1% abnormal heart beat are accepted to be normal. But if these are more than that than it would be a matter of concern. The holter study of your son can clear much of the queries.
If your child have some problem with these abnormal heart beat like he feels vertigo or weakness or some other kind of physical or mental problems than you should your consult your cardiologist soon.
Without seeing EKG nothing can be said that what changes are present. You can scan and send EKG at HCM for more detailed answer.
Best Wishes
