Child Had Viral Infection, Fever, Less Sleep, Appetite. Advised Viral Infection Has To Run The Course. Suggestions?

i have a 6 yr old child, girl. she is a vegetarian and also has a milk allergy. last week, she missed 3 days of school due to viral infection according to our dr...thru holiday weekend, she got worse, fever, irritability, sleeping most of the weekend away, pushed fluids, not much eating at all, back to the dr on tues (this week), she was unconcerned and said if feverish, keep her home, now she has missed 3 more days of school this week, 6 days total in 10 days time. the doctor said that viral inf needs to run its course? that I need to be patient. can you offer insight/opinion?

Viral infection takes its own course and there is no way we can alter it. The doctor is perfectly right in stating that your daughter be rested. As a mother you should worry more about her health rather than missing school.
