Child Has Acute Chest And Nasal Congestion. Given Ambrolite Syrup And Nebulised. Recommendations?

Hello sir,
I am from India. My younger sister, aged 7 years old, weighing 17kgs is suffering from acute chest congestion since past 8-10 days. She suffers coughing bouts mostly in the mornings with unusual sound and nasal congestion. She has been given Ambrolite syrup(3/4 tsp) and nebulized with levolin and duolin twice a day (2 ml each with NS). There has been no major improvement. Kindly help.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for your query,
I appreciate your concern.
As mentioned by you ,your sister is having symptoms of wheezy bronchitis.
Since she is on bronchodilator for 8 to 10 days and there is not much relief,I suggest you to get her re examined as some basic investigations will be needed as CBC,ESR,X Ray chest.
Bacterial infection needs to be ruled out for which a course of antibiotics will be required.
Moreover if wheezing persist a short course of steroids will be helpful.

So be in regular follow up with your pediatrician.

Wishing your sister good health.
God bless..
