Child Has Blood In Urine, No Pain. What Can It Be?

Hi . My son (6 years old) this afternoon had 5-6 drops ofnbright red blood at the end of his urine with no pain. After half hour he went again and he felt pain and just passed a brown string (assume blood) and later passed stools and his penis had couple of bright blood drops pain free. I am doing urine analysis and culture tomorrow. What can it be....????

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

There are many reasons for blood in urine.

The reasons may be start from urethra to kidney and some times some systemic illnesses.

I advise you to investigate with CUE, microscopy, urine culture and ultrasound abdomen initially followed by other investigations like urine protein estimation, serum and urine calcium, and other investigations depending on the initial reports.

Consult the Pediatrician for physical examination and further investigations to look for the causes of blood in urine and its management.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
