Child Has Cavities. Next Step After Cleaning?

I have a three and a half year old grandson who for some reason has had problems with cavities and my daughter is a single parent and has taken him to a child orthodontist that put him under and did the procedures for those cavities, and my daughter had to pay 1,000 dollars and now they came up with another 700 for her to pay and if she doesn't finish paying they will not see this child, and he was taken to Hamilton health today and they found more than two cavities and they only cleaned them for her, but since this dentist was not a child orthodontist they did nothing for his teeth, so ,my question is where does she go from here?

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

The common cause for cavities in children is due to teeth decay from bottle feeding, excessive consumption of sweets and chocolates, and not maintaining good oral hygiene.

The cavities should be filled by a dental surgeon.

Ask her mother to stop bottle feeding if it is present.

Chocolates should be discouraged.

Oral hygiene should be maintained by brushing the teeth twice daily.

Before going to bed in the night and after taking sweets and chocolates, the child should be encouraged to brush his teeth to prevent further tooth decay.

I advise you to consult the pedodontist for further management of the child teeth problems.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
