Child Has Cold, Cough And Fever. White Tongue. Breastfed. Recovered From UTI. What Would You Suggest?
My 10 month old has a cold and cough, and fever now for 5 days. Barely eating, is still breast fed. Tongue is whitish. Docs said just wait, but fever gets high every night... Around 39.5, comes down with paracetamol . She has just recovered from uti where was given a 10 day course of flox, so hesitant to give another antibiotic.... But want her to recover soon. Has become v thin. What Woud you suggest?
If you child has recovered from UTI and is now having fever for the past 5 days with cough, then continue the medication suggested by you doctor but get a urine routine examination done to ensure that there is no recurrence of UTI. It is very common for children to have different infections in quick succession and upper respiratory tract infection can occur now.
The tongue of your child is white because the child must be breathing from the mouth due to blocked nose. Steam inhalation will help the child in this stage.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
