Child Has Congestion, Mild Cough, No Fever. Sounds Congested. Now Has Become A Belly Sleeper. Cure For Symptoms?
My daughters infant age 5 1/2 months has congestion, mild cough, no fever but wheezing and rattles. sounds very congested but nothing coming up. she is identical twin and weighing 15 to16 lbs. they are visiting from out of town and we are concerned that she seems to breathe to shallow on her back. she has just become a belly sleeper and puts her head face down. what can be done to help this congestion
The chest congestion is most likely a manifestation of her blocked nose; this is also why she is preferring to sleep on her belly, as this position allows her to breathe more easily through her mouth. Start using normal salt-water (saline) nose drops every few hours to keep her nostrils open. This will also help her to breathe more easily when she lies on her back.

Child Has Congestion, Mild Cough, No Fever. Sounds Congested. Now Has Become A Belly Sleeper. Cure For Symptoms?
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. Wheezing and rattles are suggestive of spasm of lower respiratory tract. She needs physical examination including the lungs auscultation. Is she having an increased respiratory rate? Wheezing with cough requires nebulization and medication with bronchodilator. Consult the pediatrician for assessment and treatment. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
